‘Low Life’ available for Android on the Google Play store

A new type of action / puzzle game making directing crowds fun

Available today, the app Low Life from GameTroupe is a brand new concept in mobile gaming.  The user takes control of a population of creatures called ‘The Plebs’ and must direct them to negotiate each level and reach the exit.

The game makes use of crowd simulation techniques to animate the crowd of characters around the screen, following lines drawn by the user.  Our developer has a background in crowd simulation, having written software for large VFX houses used to create visual effects for movies such as Harry Potter and Clash of the Titans:

“The game uses avoidance and flocking techniques as well as artificial intelligence for the enemy characters.”  Tom Melson, developer of Low Life.

The interactive action is fast and engaging from the start but as the levels move on the puzzle element starts to increase and there’s plenty for the user to think about.  The Plebs will have to be selected individually or in small groups to complete tasks involving keys, switches, bombs and guns!  The enemy low life characters also pose a challenge.  Zombies wander aimlessly until a Pleb gets close enough to smell.  Critters roam around in flocks and attack in numbers.  Bruisers will sprint at the Plebs on sight and start a rumble!

The leader of the Plebs is the king, who must be saved on each level.  By completing bonus missions, special powers can be won for the king.  He can then use them on his subjects, making them extra big, super fast, invisible etc.  In Stage 2 the super powers are key to solving the puzzles, adding another dimension to the gameplay.  Stage 2 bonus levels then reward you with new and more powerful guns to play with!

The app is priced at £1 (or equivalent) for the full version with 84 levels.  There is also a free version available containing the first 42 levels.  The app is available worldwide and in several languages on the Google Play store.
